If there is anybody left who thinks that Sharia law is in any way just, perhaps this might just convince otherwise. Jailed for being raped !

No rape was reported. No one was arrested or prosecuted or convicted of rape in this case, so to default to 'rape victim' is incorrect. There should be an 'alledged' or 'suspected' before that claim.
I am not saying myself that Gang Rape is rare in Sudan. I just relayed, what appears to be a report from a credible source, that says it is rare.
As well as the woman there were 9 other defendants in this case, who have been sentenced to whippings or still under investigation. No one has gone unpunished here. It is not a case of one law for men and no law for women. The woman and the men have all been found guilty of indecent acts and punished accordingly.
There is clearly biased reporting and biased opinions accordingly about this case.

from the link inside the bbc piece
The 18 year old Ethiopian woman was lured to an empty property whilst she was house hunting, once there she was attacked by seven men and gang raped. The incident was filmed by perpetrators but was only sent out through social media six months later in January 2014. It was the film that prompted the arrests and investigations of all persons involved with the incident. The Ethiopian woman, who is currently nine months pregnant, was three months pregnant at the time of the rape itself. Since her arrest she has been kept in police cells and been refused requests for her transfer to medical facilities.

Emmie,
The opening line in your link is...
// The young Ethiopian woman at the centre of a trial where she was gang raped by seven men //
Problem is, that is alledged gang rape victim, not proven. She did not report the crime in August. In January when the video went viral on Whatsapp and the authorities traced her, she said she was raped. Instead of an adultary sentence she got a lesser indecent acts sentence which meant she got a suspended prison sentence.
She may well have been raped. But without a prosecution or a conviction, in law, she is not a rape victim because that allegation has not been tested or proven.

Emmie,
Yes I read it all, and unfortunately it is either inaccurate or biased.
// The 18 year old Ethiopian woman was lured to an empty property whilst she was house hunting, once there she was attacked by seven men and gang raped. //
That clearly is not a fact, but an unproven allegation. Without a court case and a conviction, it is not correct to state categorically that she WAS attacked by seven men. The fact she made no official complaint at the time of the incident has gone against her. Only when these indicent acts were posted by the defendants several months later, did she claim they were not consenting. Too late I'm afraid.

Emmie,
She may have been raped but that has not been determined in court. I do not know about Sudan, but in most countries, the law is of the land not just the indigenous population. A crime is a crime no matter the country of origin of the perpetrator or the victim.
I repeat my earlier post. Why would the perpetrators of a crime that they could be hung for, post footage of that crime being committed, on which they were clearlyidentifiable, on the internet? They wouldn't.
