It seems that the legal challenge against his ban has failed. Do people think that its his BNP activities that were his downfall, or the abuse of three boys and a driving ban ? He also slashed the boys bicycle tyres. Seems to me that he isn't really trustworthy teacher material. Unless he wants to teach at a Free School, where qualifications aren't always needed of course.

for the criminal damage, that should be enough to get him booted out. if it was solely for his political stance then that would be no reason to get rid.
Although the deeds he has carried out are sufficient for the sack, I feel a total life ban is going a little too far, so it can only be because of his BNP membership that this life ban has been imposed, and that is a very dangerous path to go down, when a teachers political leanings come into such decisions.
I don't believe that this man's political affiliations affected the decisin to ban him - his behaviour is quite sufficient on its own.

Mr Gove has gone on record as saying that politics were not a consideration - and of course they should not be.

It surely Mr Walker's inability to control his violent temper that renders him unsuitable to teach children.

It seems that this chap took Gove to court, and The Judges comments made interesting reading ::

Judge Heaton ruled there was "no evidence" that Mr Gove had intervened in the case and he did not find that the life ban was unfair.

He concluded: "I reject [Mr Walker's] argument as lacking any credible evidential base at all."

So it would seem that the BNP issue wasn't a factor here.
nor should it be, after all how many tories, labour, lib dems who work in teaching, how many have very strong views on politics, do they bring them to work, one would sincerely hope not.

Quie right emmie.

But if I had a choice whether to have a BNP activist, or say, a Lib Dem activist teaching my kids, I am not sure that the BNP one would be terribly high on my list. But I agree that he shouldn't have been banned for his political affiliations.
personally i don't care for the teaching union, it is for what it's worth quite left leaning, and i suspect that half the battle with teachers, Michael Gove, is that he is a Tory, who want to make the teaching of our children a top priority and to raise standards, and not accept some of the wishy washy ideals that have passed for state education in the last number of years.
Question Author
One of Gove's wonderful ideas was introduce schools that had no compunction on them whatsoever to employ qualified teachers. A consequence of that was the Al Madinah School, which has recently had to close due to complete incompetence.
Politics aside, his behaviour leaves all to be desired.

Incidentally, Mikey, it is not unknown for unqualified people to teach in ordinary state schools – and that’s been happening for a very long time.

that school is a separate issue, most of the free schools appear to be doing quite well, going on the link someone posted the other day. Can't remember who it was, will try and find it again.
not sure where to look for that previous link but these look promising

A BNP activist is also a child-abusing tyre-slashing bully. Perhaps the BNP could start their own free school to teach these skills. Next we'll be hearing about the Pope's religion and the lavatorial habits of forest bears.
almost as good as Catholic priest/teachers who abuse, rape the children in their care.
-- answer removed --
then it shouldn;t
mention the bnp and they will find a way of getting you out and it is that and that only that got this person the ban

i had a post removed as another member reported it as right wing propaganda
if they would have taken the time to watch the video link in full they would have understood why i had posted it
