Justin Bieber Oand Other Rants!
How is it that some young singer makes the second items on the BBC news? The only people interested in this idiot would be about 14 or under and wouldn't watch the news at all. Another piece of news from the US - a country, most of which, have no idea what the name of our Prime Minister is? Why does the BBC give air time to rubbish like this? considering there was absolutely no mention of the Womens cricket in Australia, who are it seems, are so much better than the mens cricket team who obviously got a mention!!! Rant over for the time being.

And isn't that what the majority do also, or why else would he have still be gracing our TV screens for all these years? I doubt Justin Bieber will still be popular after only 10 years.

Bruce may be an old timer, but then won't you also be one day, and if you can dance, sing and play the piano (note I left out 'tell jokes') as he can at that age, then you will also be classed as still having talent.

Apart from 'the telling of jokes' don't you think that still being able to do these things (perhaps not up to the standard as he did when he was very much younger) at the advanced age of 85 validates him to be classed as multi talented?

Bruce Forsyth may be chosen as a celebrity who would be particularly newsworthy if he did something out of his known character, but, for what it's worth, he is a man of many talents but master of none. Which of his skills is he exceptional at? He is no Sammy Davis junior. He was good at presenting game shows but the last time he was an exceptional dancer was when he was billed as The Mighty Atom and that must have been nearly seventy years ago.

If you have a Dab radio then Radio5 live is the station to listen to especially at night.
On Thursday night, they even relay TV's BBC Question Time and then afterwards they conduct a live phone-in on the subjects that have been discussed, much more interesting to get the general public's slant on things rather than the selected panel and audience.

That implies that simply living to an old age and still doing the things an artist did when younger infers a level of talent simply by dint of longevity.
I would argue that talent is a mercurial concept, and it does not always stand the test of time - being able to do something less well in age that you did well in younger days does not confer the notion of 'talent' - merely longevity, and there is not talent whasoever involved in simply living to a good age.
That implies that simply living to an old age and still doing the things an artist did when younger infers a level of talent simply by dint of longevity.

AOG, being a foil to Norman Wisdom, and about 50 years ago or more, is not a great advertisement for then or now. And the routine is older than he is;it has been one of the staples of augustes in circus and also in panto for generations. And, no , I didn't find it funny the first time it was broadcast and don't now, though my father did; he liked Norman Wisdom.
