I've just phoned the BBC to complain about the lack of news coverage of the young white man that was stabbed 5 times through the heart by a group of black youths on Sunday night in London. Did you know about it? We all know about the tragedy in Liverpool don't we? Massive news all week-end. It's a terrible tragedy. Awful. The BBC should give a balanced coverage. But at the moment, it seems to have more concern for minorities than providing an even-handed, balanced, quality service.

Don't tell me you didn't realise, racist murders do not have white victims, well not reportably so any way.
stabbings aren't uncommon, people getting axes in their head are.
Do you mean if its a white guy kills a balck guy its racist but if a black guy kills a white guy its not and all depends on who shouted what first anyway.

I agree that even reporting should be the norm, but I'm also inclined to agree with jno about axes vs stabbings.  I was concerned to see broadsheet headlines today comparing it to the Stephen Lawrence case.  That poor boy has never been allowed to rest in peace.  I hope this chap from Liverpool is able to get that at least.

10ClarionSt - disappointed to see you ran off from the thread the other week.  here

Maybe the other guy's family don't want the media vultures intruding.

There's a similar unwritten rule in the US when it comes to black-on-white crime.  See, for example, the Zebra Killings or the Wichita Horror; neither crime got much publicity outside of its immediate area:

acw, please be reminded that we are talking about another post here and not from the thread from the other day.  10ClarionSt has written about something else and I don't see why you should introduce the other thread just to start an argument again.

I do agree with jno.. stabbings are a more common then axes and maybe the victims family didn't want news coverage.

In the town where I live there was 5 murders through stabbings (black and white) last year, none of which got mentioned in the National media....its a discrace, I also think its unfair and more white people should be hit with axes so the media is better balanced.

Point take butter - sorry.  Please report my post if you like and request to have it moved back to where it belongs.

I'm also not trying to cause an arguement, and I do think the two threads are linked.  However, I will continue to disagree with racism.

I initially made the link because I was looking forward to 10ClarionSt's answer.  I had no idea it would be that ... extreme.

The killing on the bus has not been reported as a racist crime because, unlike the Anthony Walker case, there is not yet any evidence to suggest that it was a racially motivated crime, such as racist taunts, etc.  A murder is not automatically assumed to be racist because the victim and perpetrator are different colours.

acw, I didn't report your post but I see one of them is missing.  I just thought you sounded rather sarcastic and wanting to start an argument with 10ClarionSt in the post that was removed.  Someone else obviously thought the same otherwise it would still be on this thread.

I disagree with you, I don't think the 2 threads are linked...we are not talking about bombing in this thread.  Everyone has different opinions on racsim...that's never going to change and personally I don't like getting involved in the subject.  I just thought it was a bit unfair of you to bring in that thread.

Fair enough butter1 - I accept what you are saying.  I apologise again.

In case you think I'm being sarcastic here - I'm really not.  That is a straight up apology because I didn't mean to annoy you or anyone, and I am sorry that I did.  I hope you will accept my apology.  :-)

acw, I don't think you are being sarcastic at all and you didn't annoy me...I just think your post wasn't called for, that's all.  Didn't mean to upset you though, if I did and it's obvious that you feel passionate on your views. :-)

No I didn't see that on the news 10ClarionSt? I was absolutely appalled about the murder of the young black teenager in Merseyside. But it does annoy me when there is a bias in news reporting. The BBC has become so political.

As for the reason being it was an axe rather than a knife, that is frankly ridiculous. I actually heard about the murder on the news before any mention of an axe being used.

Actually I consider this whole situation less about racism and more about the increasing growth of thuggery and violence in this country.

I am confused because 10ClarionSt is referring to an unreported crime of which I know nothing, but Shipstabber is referring to the widely-reported murder on a bus where a man was throwing food.  What is the connection?  Do you mean the same incident?  If so, there is no evidence to suggest that the bus murder was racially motivated.
All violent crimes are horriffic.   And an axe murder has a great sense of revulsion.   But only white attacks, discrimination, etc against black is considered racisim.   There is no such thing a reverse racism.

Brinjal - "But only white attacks, discrimination, etc against black is considered racisim."

Not so. The following is from the Home Office advice on Racially Agravated Offenses.

A crime will count as "racially aggravated" if it can be shown that it was motivated either wholly or partly by racism. A crime will also count as "racially aggravated" if it can be shown that - even though the motivation for the attack was not racist - racist hostility was demonstrated during the course of the offence or immediately before or after it.

A "racial group" is, for the purposes of the new offences, "a group of persons defined by reference to race, colour, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins".

10clarionST.  Welcome to the world as seen by the BBC. About as left wing as they come. Why do you think that they have just had their licence renewed. ? They are Phoney Blairs mouthpiece and in his pocket.

After the Dr Kelly fiasco didnt you notice how they all of a sudden started to come back round to toe Phoneys line, they knew they had overstepped the mark and realised they were up for renewal shortly, and hey presto they got it.When people are worried about how the media influence the publics thinking its the Beeb they should really be worried about. They are a disgrace
