This saga has been running for ages, but at last he appears to be telling the truth. Perhaps our Police could learn something from this chap ?

He's a lad isn't he ? The evidence has proved overwhelming. He is a divisive figure. He is loud, outspoken, always ostensibly for the little man, but some think him a self-interested, narcissistic charlatan.

You missed out liar Fred !
Well, far be it from me to suggest that any Canadian politician is different from those south of the border or those in the 'mother country' , mikey.

I prefer to concentrate on the individual; the rest may go without saying. I notice that he hasn't resigned yet. And he won't. unless he is charged and convicted, whereupon he will say that it has become impossible for him to properly exercise the powers and duties entrusted to him by the wonderful citizens who elected him.

Well, I'm not Canadian so it doesn't really matter to me personally Fred, but as long as he goes, I really could care less in what manner. He has been lying for months...good riddance to him.

I was hoping you could help out with a technical question, re Plebgate, which I have posted at 20:50 tonight...I need your specialist knowledge !
And his ratings have gone up to 44%
Yes, baz, I noticed that ! It just shows that a little honesty goes a long way. His supporters and potential supporters were waiting for that, and he timed it, and the wording of it, perfectly.

I only know about this because I have friends in Canada. For them, it is the most exciting thing that has happened in Canadian politics in living memory. Well, it has a small, largely rural (in mind, if not in fact) population, which is wealthy, and it has tolerance to match.
//But Mr Ford maintained to reporters that when he previously denied using the drug: "I wasn't lying. You didn't ask the correct questions."//

Am I mistaken or is that, genuinely, a new one that none of us have ever heard before?

(remember when "I was on holiday at the time" was a novelty phrase?)

He's admitted to smoking crack (after first denying it) because it turns out there's film of him smoking crack. That's no big deal. We can all admit to doing things when there's film of us doing it.
That's delightful, in its way! "You didn't ask the right questions" such as "Have you ever taken crack? " and "Is that you in the video that we know about but which hasn't been generally released yet?" Yes, always say it is everyone else's fault but your own. What did he think he was being asked about? Why, all of a sudden, were the press so interested in him ?
I think his angle is that the press had initially asked him if he was a crack addict.
The question is presumably framed in such a way that the answer determines whether he can be disqualified from public office, on the spot.

He answers that he is "not a crack addict", which is entirely honest because it was only a single incident. (Rather conveniently for him, it seems, he was completely plastered at the time).

Semantics, again.
the devil will die of old age before he's shamed, the pace these things move at (and that includes Mr Mayor's belated admission)
yes... he also said he "didn't use crack", as using implies regular use. Which of course he may do, but there only the one video.
Ah, so he's running the old special pleading line (I did not owe £100. The truth is I owed £99 but my answer is true). It amounts to "I knew what you were asking e.g. did I owe any money".
P.S. Lawyers are alive to this. They plead, or ask, for their client, that they did not owe £100 "or any sum".
could hardly deny it seeing it was on film...
I am told he denied there was a tape and then said, if there was, he wasn't in it. Then the tape was produced for all to see. Not sure how anybody was asking 'the wrong questions' about that.
all that crack must have gone to his head, what a dingbat
He's not stepping down until the election.

What's the betting he gets re-elected ?

I dont think is popularity rating has gone up purely because he has 'come clean' more because he is a character. Look at the way he dealt with the press on his property, just how we all would like to do.

Its not the smoking of crack cocaine that is the real problem here, stupid and against the law as it is. Its our old friend, that we are seeing no end of lately, on both sides of the Atlantic.

He lied, and lied and lied. That is what he should resign for. Its not rocket science.
He states he is not an addict so I guess there is no need for him to go to Narcotics Anonymous.
Do they have Slimming World in Canada?
