Odd that - IPSOS MORI recently provided some poll results, from a sample of those who said they would definitely vote in the next general election - and in that poll, Labour and Conservative were neck and neck.
Were I a Labour strategist, I would actually be somewhat concerned that, despite the long months of austerity, Labour have been unable to persuade the public that they represent a better option than the Tories in the next general election, especially since the economy is finally starting to show some early signs of recovery.
Personally, I really think we are probably going to see yet another Coalition, although it might be a LibLab rather than a ConDem one.
Were I a Labour strategist, I would actually be somewhat concerned that, despite the long months of austerity, Labour have been unable to persuade the public that they represent a better option than the Tories in the next general election, especially since the economy is finally starting to show some early signs of recovery.
Personally, I really think we are probably going to see yet another Coalition, although it might be a LibLab rather than a ConDem one.

So if the present Government, which some people describe as a coalition, are doing such a great job with the economy, why have the Tories been behind Labour in almost every Poll, since soon after the 2010 Election ?

If the economy continues to grow and Labour cannot regain that gap again, then why do you think that it may well be a LibLab government, surely it will be a Conservative win.
I would prefer either a Labour or Tory outright majority than another Coalition.

I would prefer a single party majority over another coalition sqad. To be clear, I am not in favour of another coalition - its just that the maths and the demographics of voter distribution favour it on the current polls.
There are some articles on it somewhere, which I can probably dig out if you like, but I think if the Tories are to win an outright majority in the next General Election, they would require a voter intentions poll to favour them over Labour by something like 20 points. Anything less, unless the LibDem vote collapses completely, favours a narrow Labour majority or more likely a LibLab coalition.

How much would that calculation change in the event of Scottish Independence?
Actually that's an interesting question -- what happens in a 2015 Election if the Scottish returned a "Yes" vote to Independence, but presumably the process of becoming Independent has not concluded? Do the Scottish people still get to vote for MPs, of which most will be Left-Wing ?

Because they are addicted to giving away other people's money and they believe that the way to make the poor richer is to make the rich poorer. Large numbers of people (many scarcely educated to basic literacy and numeracy levels courtesy of the State education system) subscribe to this philosophy and believe it is ideal for them as they will be handed barrow loads of dosh for sitting on their ar5es. They believe "the government" has limitless supplies of cash which they accrue by magic and that a Labour administration is the only variety that will put much of it their way.
