Apart from the fact that the Islam religion could well be bad for one's general health as well as being extremely dangerous, was it wrong for a Muslim male teacher to describe this female business suit as 'abhorrent'?

AOG - 'Apart from the fact that the Islam religion could well be bad for one's general health as well as being extremely dangerous,'

your dislike / mistrust / general objection to all things Muslim is a matter of record on this site, but is it really necessary to start your debate with this nasty sideswipe? It demeans the validity of the point you are raising.

'"was it wrong for a Muslim male teacher to describe this female business suit as 'abhorrent'?'

Absolutely - but that does not reflect the Muslim faith as a whole, and the issue of cultural differences is not assisted by you taking a sniffy and unpleasant attitude to it.

She shouldn't have walked away, she ought to have taken the matter up and pursued it to tribunal if necessary.
/was it wrong for a Muslim male teacher to describe this female business suit as 'abhorrent'? /

making a derogatory and subjective remark about a colleague's clothing is rude and unprofessional.

Why didn't she complain to the Head Teacher about this?
I loved the BBC's text

\\ A Muslim free school accused of imposing strict Islamic practices, such as segregated classrooms,... \\

Single sex education ....wooo radical!

I doubt that's what the shutdown's about

Watch this space eh?

We don't really hear of Free Schools anymore.

They were supposed to raise Educational standards, but haven't.

They were set up to bye pass local authority 'meddling' (ie prper control).

They are funded directly by the Government, so they have failed.

They were warned that Free Schools would lead to this kind of thing (I'll see if I can find a post on AB) and now it has.

Gove should resign.
I can't see what connection the closure of the school has to this woman's mode of dress, so what are we actually talking about? If the male teacher thinks her clothing is abhorrent, he's at liberty to say so. I think the veil is abhorrent.
Naomi, it is NEVER acceptable to make personal, judgemental remarks to a colleague.
I think there's a very large piece of this jigsaw puzzle missing!
As advised, Ofsted will not comment until the Insepction is completed.

My wife is an Ofsted Inspector, and they find all kinds of things - especially since they now give just one day's notice before they go in.
Ofsted said it will not give the reasons for its decision until the inspection ends, according to The Times. So we don't know fully why the school was closed but we do know what the school says.

But thanks ,AOG. for updating us on news concerning Islam and Muslims. It is quite your forte.
hc, it might not be acceptable, but he's at liberty to say it.

I agree with Jake. We don't have the whole story here.

Oh yes it does. Muslims believe the Quran is the word of Allah and the Quran clearly demonstrates a profound prejudice against women.

So called moderates have actually abandoned the Quran just as most Christians have abandoned the Bible. Yet both claim their respective "word of god" books are central to their faiths. As such anyone affiliated with these faiths are explicitly backing what is written in the books.

Consequently those of both faiths do stand for sexism and undeniably fascist principles. All those who uphold these books are tainted by the violence done in the name of their Gods as clearly instructed within them.

No exceptions. All who subscribe to the Abrahamic faiths are implicitly responsible for the acts of the extremists because they directly give credibility to the books rather than acknowledging them as the musings of ancient ignorant misogynists.

Education not indoctrination.

Some more recently approved Free Schools for you to consider...

The al Madinah School is the one in trouble now.
Is it any worse than all the publicity about banning the niqab? I guess he's entitle to his opinion, telling her his opinion is different altogether but it is quite a nasty suit
// I can't see what connection the closure of the school has to this woman's mode of dress, so what are we actually talking about? //

There is no connection. They've bolted two unrelated and non-newsworthy items together to try and make a whole story out of it.
The Daily Fail's weaselly Jon Staefel would be proud of this headline
///
A Muslim Faith School

By including /accused of imposing strict islamic practices/

it implies that is relevant in some way to /closed after the first day/

who knows whether it is or not, but that's a pretty shabby tabloid trick isn't it?
beso - 'No exceptions.'

Glad we cleared that up - no need for any further debate about religion then ...
Single sex education ....wooo radical!

There's a considerable difference between single sex education and segregation by gender as practised in some Muslim establishments, as I'm sure you know, Jake.
