Haha ...... saw it on the news earlier.
The guy is clearly a div ...... not only as he upset people in the NE England, he's now upset the NW as well ...... the goon lol :P
It's also Switzerland day!

I'm sure they have many things in common

I'll start

1/ Sense of humour
A fondness for spending. :P
I have wronged this man grievously. Reading the text of his original comments, I thought his use of the word desolate when describing the NE betrayed a contempt for the North East; Nimbyism of the first order. Now I know he was referring to the NW, and of course that totally explains it!

This man seems so adept at digging holes for himself, and so stubborn that he cannot recognise just when to stop digging, that he should probably set himself up as his own oil exploration company and frack off back to the south :)
Tory twit who was promoted way beyond his capabilities by Empress Thatcher.
Gromit, David Howell was still the honourable member for Guildford until 1997. How could he have been ennobled by "Empress Thatcher"? She left office 6 years previously.

Oh Mushroom - she would have had a hand in it somewhere
mushroom2, surely you've realised by now that for a large number of people, blaming Mrs T is the justification for all the world's ills from the year dot?
Mushroom25

// When Margaret Thatcher was elected in 1979, she made Howell her first Secretary of State for Energy and then moved him to Transport in the reshuffle of September 1981 and until 1983. During that time he wrote the book Freedom and Capital, published 1981. In 1979 he was also sworn into the Privy Council. He then wrote the book Blind Victory: a study in income, wealth and power, published 1986. In 1987 he became chairman of the Select Committee on Foreign Affairs. //
Added a map.
mushroom and zebo, Gromit didn't say he was ennobled under Thatcher, read his post again.

She made him secretary fo state for energy and transport.

Just goes to show,

It IS Grim up North!
:-)
I said he was promoted beyond his capabilities by Mrs T, not that she enobled him.
