I can't think of a good reason why not either.
i think they should, but not sure what, perhaps they will at the Pride of Britain awards.
They should be acknowledged by such an award. Some may complain that what they did was not on a par with someone who wins the GC or that they did not know what risk they were taking and so aren't brave. To the first, nobody is saying that they should get the GC. To the second, I can only say that the two winners of the VC that I have known both said that, if they'd been thinking straight, they would never have done the act which won them the medal! They just did it, without thinking, because it seemed necessary at the time.

Or it may be said that some professionals take such risks. They do, and fully armed and protected by safety equipment, and in the line of duty. These women were not so acting. If professionals go beyond the call of duty, they too have medals.
i think what they did was monumental considering that the three were facing two armed men, none of them had any way to protect themselves had the men chosen to be violent to them. The two women who comforted the dying serviceman and the lady who confronted the man were heroines of the first order.

Interesting thought....never gave it a thought.

A medal to me is given for an act of bravery which eventually achieved something..e.g saved lives.

Did the "angels" save any lives?

On further thought....brave women, but do not deserve a medal as no lives were saved.
I think they should get a reward, I wouldn't have been as brave as them.
I don't think they should. And they might not want one.
sqad, the soldier was comforted as he lay dying, the two women asked the men if they could comfort him, the third woman spoke directly to the man with bloodied hands, that is bravery beyond words. They may not want any awards, but i reckon they should be honoured in some way.
For me the honour would come from the comfort he did not die alone.
em10...I agree, but not a medal for bravery.

Now if Drummer Rigby was being attacked and the three women fought off the attacker with scant regard for their own safety and safety, saving the life of our drummer......then yes......a medal for gallantry......GM perhaps.
As it was reported the two women are deeply religious, and prayed for the young man as he lay dying, , so perhaps that was some comfort to him, and i suspect none of them would think of themselves as heroines, that is not to say they cannot be given some recognition.
I think what they did was amazing and whilst I am sure they do likely do not want any award, it would be fitting if they got one.
nobody is saying that they should get the GC

Somebody is, that's what the whole story is about. I assume it's the Rev mentioned at the start, though the Standard doesn't attribute it to him.

The people of Malta won the GC in the second world war. For this they underwent a blitz - daily bombing raids - three times as long as London's and were brought to the brink of mass starvation before supplies finally got through.

I'm not sure this is really on that level of suffering and resistance.
would you have walked into that situation, i know i wouldn't have.
OP - Yes, they should.
I agree.
Lie in King

What award would you suggest..........
The Drummer Rigby award.
I think they were VERY brave. How anyone could think that it's not "brave" because they didn't save a life is beyond me.

They probably don't want an award, but I think their actions that day should be acknowledged.
