Post-mortem tests reveal that 17-year-old Georgia Williams died as a result of pressure being applied to her neck.

If only the same fate could be dealt to her killer.

It wouldn't unless he was murdered. Judicial hanging here killed by severing the spinal cord :)
that is a terribly intimate way to kill someone because of the close proximity and means there will be plenty of evidence to convict him.,

Thanks for the technicalities Fred. However it is still 'if only' because he deserves to die.
As abhorrent as this crime is, I must say I am totally against capital punishment.
I believe the suspect is a young man. If he's convicted he could be free when he's still young, in his mid 30s. That doesn't seem right.
This thread isn't about the poor victim, it's yet another rant about capital punishment!
Thought I'd just give a bit of pedantic information sir.prize, rather than reopen the debate on capital punishment on here. There's nothing new to say;it has, as it were, been done to death.
Doesn't it count for a few more years incarceration if there has been pre-meditation involved, he'd been stalking Georgia and pestering her and it's looking to me like he was possibly unhinged, it's also unusual that he is the same generation as Georgia, the victim, it usually is the case that the culprit is alot older.

Yes Jeza a lot of people will agree with you. I do.

It happens far too often where someone is murdered somewhere in the UK. We accept that it is part of life, ironically.

But when one lives only a couple of miles away from the terrible incident, it does make one think somewhat differently - even about capital punishment .

Sandy - we were discussing that today. He will still have plenty of time to become a family man and have a lengthy life. That definitely doesn't sound right.
The accused is 22.

He could be out when he's in his mid 30s. Murder is a dreadful crime and deserves a very long custodial sentence. I think a minimum of 25 years isn't unreasonable.
Where am I having a go at you, Jeza, please point it out.
I don;t think we will necessarily see this young man get as far as a trial, it could well turn out he is unfit to stand trial

Jeza - I think ummmm is having a go at me, cos I started the thread (sorry, rant). But if she could experience the feeling within our close neighbourhoods, her views might be more sympathetic.

ummmm - contradicting you, the thread IS about the poor victim. RIP Georgia.
Don't bother actually, I haven't even answered you. My first answer was to the OP and the second answer was to Dot.

You need to work on your paranoia levels!!
I am anti capital punishment, but hope and pray if this young man is guilty that the sentence is a very very long one.
Capital punishment. umm
Sir.p...my mate was murdered not far from where I live. Don't assume!
Jeza - seriously? Why on earth would my comment be directed at you and not the OP.

Jeeeezzzzzz
