Fire deaths trial 1350:

BREAKING: Sentencing of Mick and Mairead Philpott has been adjourned until 10:30 tomorrow, Mrs Justice Thirlwall tells Nottingham Crown Court.

I hope the judge doesn't go soft on the comments of them being good parents.

it might have more to do with the one i posted AOG, he was on bail for a road rage incident... i did that as well yesterday.
I'd rather the judge wait and get the sentence right, that pass sentence too early and get it wrong, find it overturned by Court of Appeal, etc. No harm in taking your time if you reach the better decision for it.
^ it's to do with neither, it's consideration of this case only
Generally these days the sentence comes many days after the guilty verdict, why is this case different?
can see that too, what i don't get is why this man who has a very long history of hurting people, did he only get seven years before for almost stabbing his girlfriend to death, and how long did he actually serve..
surely there is no chance of him getting off is there?
i really would like to know the background of these people, ie parents.siblings.education.employment,
anne, why, can any kind of background mitigate this behaviour.

Think I have seen somewhere that he only served 3 of the 5 year term given.
em. no ,nor was i suggesting it would/could.
it;s just some people do that, they excuse vile behaviour on their backgrounds, upbringing,
he got seven years, or so i read..
/// Now 51, Miss Hill told The Sun that Philpott attacked and stabbed her 27 times, and even knifed her mother 11 times when she tried to intervene and protect her daughter. ///

/// He was found guilty of the attacks and sentenced to seven years in prison for attempted murder, and handed a five-year concurrent sentence for GBH with intent for the wounding of Miss Hill's mother. ///

/// However Miss Hill told The Sun that he was released after only three years and two months. ///
em, i know that happens, but id still be interested in his childhood etc. old issue. nature or nurture .
no idea anne, perhaps it was bad, but sometimes people come out of it with a better perspective, vowing not to be like that...
One can only hope his fellow inmates have a warm welcome for him!
i would rather they didn't, doesn't that make us as bad as him, wishing him to come to harm, i know the thoughts go through my head, but honestly if they just left him in solitary with the walls for company, wouldn't that be a better form of justice.
Solitary could be next em!
agreed em

if the punishment is brutal and disrespectful of human life he might conclude that his despicable behaviour is no worse than society's norm

Most people treat others decently, that is the standard we have judged him by and that is the standard he needs to compare his own behaviour to

Hopefully he will have plenty of time and opportunity to reflect on that
i sincerely hope you are right, my other self wants him bashed up and left for dead, but the more reasonable side of me knows that's wrong, but it doesn't harm in dreaming .......
