I saw that last night and 2 things struck me.

1. There appeared to be no police involved from start to finish.

2. The delegates, MPs and party officials were queuing up to put the boot in when the would be assassin had been wrestled to the ground.

I wondered if either thing would happen in thos country. Probably not.
must have been terrifying but i think if he intended to kill him he would be dead

I think the security guys started it. Probably scared that they'd failed at their job.
/// Incredibly the statesman survived after the weapon MISFIRED and he was able to push it aside. ///

/// The leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedom struck the man before he could pull the trigger, ///

Gas pistol MISFIRED???????????????

Struck the man BEFORE HE COULD PULL THE TRIGGER?????????

Two conflicting statements here.
To start with, I don't think the assassin was very professional. His gun almost touched the (to be) victim and then he realised he had safety catch engaged. To me it all looked so much of a dramma.
When you face possible death like that, I wonder whether it makes you reassess how you live your life thereafter? For me, every day would be like a gift
I hope the camera is ok btw.
gas guns are non-lethal weapons, but can cause life threatening injuries if used close.

If this person wanted to be sure of killing him then he had the wrong weapon, he should have got a real gun
I've never heard of a gas gun. What does it run on? Lighter fuel? :o)
Or even a knife. I think I remember a South African and a Japanese were assassinated with knives.
