Yep!!
Yep.
Yes....but we can't all be happy all of the time.
It's the nature of a site like this TWR.

AB is a microcosm of society - we have our serious responders, our numpties, our nasties, and the vast majority who are absolutely fine upstanding human beings who like to be nice to each other.
thats a majority of 1, maybe 2 at best....^

Good answer that Andy, I must admit, I have a way with words I do not deny it, but for people that know me it goes over the top of their heads.
Yep
TWR - one problem of comunication - and I have experienced it as a writer and a reader, is that sometimes miscommunication occurs. A sentence which is meant to be ironic can be read as serious, and vice versa.

Similarly, senses of humour differ vastly, and some posters can trample all over the sensibilities of others in the belief that what they are saying is actually amusing - shall we call it The Boyle Effect?

However, these glitches aside, the majority of people get their point over perfectly well, and occasional misunderstandings are sorted out with a few more postings, and an apology if merited.

As I say - just like life.
I have never heard of that - the Boyle effect.....
This may help. This says they do consider repayments over 12 months or even write it off sometimes

Eh? i was typing on a thread about child tax credits! Sorry
Wrong thread, factor?
I knew when I started reading Andy's post that Boyle would be mentioned :-)
Susan Boyle ?
Yes chuck. This has happened a couple of times before. I wasn't on this thread (I rarely venture into CB)- I was on a thread about Child Tax Credits and was responding to a response to my previous reply. Weird.
I think if you post something on C/B you have to be prepared for the fact that all the answers may not be favourable towards you, the other party might be having a bad day or that this their honest opinion.
DT Crosswordfan - you won't have heard of The Boyle Effect - it's a concept I invented as I was writing my response.

The Boyle Effect - the belief that you can say anything at all, no matter how libelous, cruel, nasty, snide, or vile, if you disguise it with the fact that you regard yourself as a commedian. The essence of The Boyle Effect means that a certain selection of the population will laugh at what you say, because they see your act as cutting edge, and you as a daring individual who doesn't care what anyone thinks.

In fact you are a nasty vile poisonous man with a swinging brick where you heart should be. Your audience are nervous go-alongs who would love to be smart and clever, but can't quite manage that because they actually do not possess anything approaching a genuine sense of humour.

The end-fact of the Boyle Effect is that you and your audience richly deserve each other, and the fortunate by-product is that most national media realise how knee-jerk and shallow what you do really is. and steer clear.
Lol...

What can I say, Andy?
Susan may not be sexy, but at least she can sing! What have you got against her, Andy?
It's in the urban dictionary, so your concept isn't exactly novel.......
