The whole nutrition thing has been going on for years. It would depend largely on the individuals makeup, their way of life, work, physical build, habits, etc. If we look the 1930's around that time there were a lot of poor people with large families, there wasn't a lot of money and hence less food to go around. The diet then was what you could get eg dripping and bread, things considered unhealthy nowadays. The work was hard too with long hours. No private cars, No mod-cons, No tv, videogames etc. The people walked long distances without thinking about it, children played games outdoors. Somehow people lived to be 90 and beyond. Living an active spartan life seems to be the answer.
