I've managed to change my 'Default Settings' for 'PDF' files to 'Adobe Reader' as everything i was being sent i couldn't read. Now any new ones receive say, Getting Files' & it shows files flying through the air but it just goes on forever & dosn't end?

Maybe your program was destroyed. You can try reinstall the adobe reader to solve the problem.
