He's said that black fans should avoid the Euro 2012 games in Poland and the Ukraine because of rampant racism:

Panorama spent a month filming at matches in both the joint host nations and witnessed Nazi salutes from the terraces, black players being taunted with monkey chants, rampant anti-Semitism and a vicious assault on a group of Asian students.

Now...this may be the case, but I remember before the World Cup in South Africa, certain commentators were predicting mass muggings of football fans - and the worst thing that happened were those damn vuvuzelas being blown through every game.

Would racist football 'supporters' put you off travelling to watch your national team play?

tambourine - theoretically doable. But practically - powder keg!
Sol Campbell is correct. The scenes of football violence were awful to see. I would avoid the place like the plague, not only at the football ground but outside the ground as a tourist. Awarding the Euro 2012 games to Ukraine was not a good idea. The plan should have been "If you want this tournament you must sort out your problems". It was reported that these neanderthals don't know any difference, racism is a way of life with them "because they have been isolated from international social mores for all those years because of communism". That is official Lefties are thick.
In Ukraine at least it IS just a few nutters actually. Not of course that that excuses it. It's unfair to expect a country to sort all its problems out before awarding them a tournament. Not many countries would pass the test. Up until recently football hooliganism was unheard of in Ukraine. It is the small number of nutters who have recently started using poorly attended and policed football matches as an outlet for their hatred and violence. So my advice would be to go - just take the precaution of avoiding unfamiliar or poorly populated areas . The sort of scenes witnessed in the programme are v unlikely to occur at actual games
Well it's finished ...... The football was great.

The violence was a bit of a Damp squib
