The Conservative Manifesto at the last election stated:
// A Conservative government will help to mend our broken society – by cracking down on drink- and drug-fuelled violence, tackling re-offending, and intervening early to stop young people getting onto the conveyor belt to crime – in order to reduce the causes of crime and anti-social behaviour. We will rebuild confidence in the criminal justice system so that people know it is on the side of victims and working for law-abiding people, not criminals. // More broken promises then. |

It seems the asbo system is becoming less effective through overuse, and being seen as a status symbol in the gangs.
Likewise, a criminal record makes it harder to find work, and contributes to people seeing a lifestyle based on permanent benefits Anything new will work for a while. |

Not wishing to side-track, but...
"[asbos are] being seen as a status symbol in the gangs." I hear this a lot. Are they? Can someone offer me some proof of this? An interview with an ex-gang member, a social study, something... because I'm unsure if it's true. |

Have to say we've had some poor Home Secretaries in the past but Theresa May appears to have taken it to another level and is the most inept I've ever seen.
