Gareth Williams – MI6 officer found dead in a padlocked bag…

I can barely believe what I have just read on the BBC website regarding the above.

It is being seriously suggested that Mr Williams locked himself in the bag. He presumably also padlocked the bag closed once he had zipped himself inside. Some chap called William MacKay said, “There are people around who can do amazing things and Mr Williams may well have been one of those persons”.

Is it just me or is this blatant (and quite pathetic) attempt at a cover-up?

i know someone who worked for the same service, according to this person the vetting process was more than extensive. You need to be as clean as a whistle, as any proclivities could be open to blackmail.

it may be hard but if its that or die im pretty sure most people would find the strength to rip the seams...leg muscles can be powerful things especially when pumped with adrenaline ... or pick through the fabric...people have been known to lift cars in desperation to save someone...people cut through skin and bone with their teeth or a blunt knife...
leather is indeed tough but it is not unbreakable

as i said, there were no marks inside the bag, like scratches or tears, had he been trying to get out. Latest news report said that he may have been dead before being put in the holdall. Perhaps this is one will never answer, poor guy.

ah em, didnt see that bit... i think even with a gang, getting a conscious and struggling man into a small hold all and managing to zip it up would be some feat - and one i doubt theyd bother with...theyd have surely knocked him out

maybe he suffocated? even though holdalls are not air tight an unconscious person cannot focus on getting some air through the zip perhaps, and carbon dioxide would build up...he could also have been folded iin such a way as to make breathing difficult if unconscious

either i think its unlikely he got in on his own...unless he was practising to smuggle himself somewhere....and someone caught him at it

Strange that it took the employers of a key security worker six days before reporting him missing.

If there was an accomplice he wouldn't have been able to release him because the key was in the bag. So probably just left him to die.
