Insane would infer that he had no idea that what he did was in any way wrong or understand the concept of the loss of life.

This guy is sane but has a twisted concept of reality, he is a dangerous and evil individual. Alas there are many men like him out there ready to do the same again and again.
If the psychiatrists in Norway can't agree how on earth can we?

People have a strange idea that somehow insanity is a "let off"

Ian Brady is trying to get out of Broardmore and into a prison because whilst "insane" he can be drugged and force fed
//Insane would infer that he had no idea that what he did was in any way wrong or understand the concept of the loss of life.//

Really?

where on earth did you get that from?
\\others are free to settle here if they wish, that does not make them 'invaders'. \\

Unless of course they tend to breed skepticism and suspicion with an alternative form of religion and law, completely alien to the host country.

THAT, then makes them......"INVADERS"

You mean like Jews Sqad?
Jake the Peg............exactly.
That sort of logic has an unfortunate history doesn't it?
JTP...indeed it does.

One man's "unfortunate logic" is another man's "common sense" and there lies the rub, littering the history of the world.

Sounds to me like you're giving your support to a terrorist...because in all honesty, that's what Breivik is.
sp1814.......please read my initial response..............carefully.
Don't you think his methods are horribly similar to those of Muslim extremists - they kill people to make a point...
i think he is sane with not so far fetching beliefs, many think like him, some just don't say so, or do anything about it. I
Islamification will probably prove less relevant than some fear as the West becomes more and more secular and an individual's myth of choice becomes of minor consequence.

As for Anders, he is either insane or trying to appear so. No one in their right mind would contemplate being aquitted would be the correct course of action after what they did. And in fact it ought to matter little anyway. Someone capable of doing what they did can not be allowed back into society regardless.

An - I see...I thought from subsequent posts you were part of the "I don't agree with Hitler's methods, but his ideasmade sense" brigade.

I call those people 'Ecclestons'.

Some interesting discussion.

I don't think being insane necessarily means you have no idea or control over what you are doing. Im no psychologist but there are many different variations of insanity and in my mind he must be one of them. To have those beliefs and the desire to carry out those actions is one thing but to actually carry it through - I'm not sure how any totally same person could beging to justify that.
nor will he be, incarcerated somewhere he cannot get out of, not in a hundred years.
Sqad

Apologies for misrepresenting you!
Question Author
Eeugghh. Auto correct. You know what I meant.
Question Author
I heard one of his victims say the other day she would prefer he was incarcerated in a secure mental unit. Not because he might get psychological treatment but becaue that's where he doesn't want to go. I sympathise with her hopes.
sp1814........sorry.....you ave beaten me there......I have no idea what you mean by "Ecclestons" but it sounds profound, so let us leave it at that.
