im going to vote on may 5th and am planning on voting lib dem but i am growing more and more hostility and apathy to the political campaigns. the party political broadcasts are laughable and theblanket news coverage is tedious. i know the importance but is anyone else bored of blair and howard and kennedy constantly lying.

If I was in England I'd consider spoiling my ballot card
stevie21, That is exactly what I intend to do. I did enjoy seeing Tony Blair squirming when ITN's political editor Nick Robinson interviewed him. Just a typical politician under pressure really, loads of lies, half-truths, tactical diversions and passing the buck.
hopefully enough people will vote tory and lib dem and various other parties so we have a hung parliament with a decent representation of all parties.  We might then get a better democratic vote????

Did you see Charles Kennedy's interview with Jeremy Paxman, how funny was that.  Was tempted to vote Lib Dem but that interview did CK no favours!

Toby, why are you going to vote when you know that you are voting for a liar?  It does not make any sense to me - don't waste your time, don't vote!!
I think that part of the problem is that politics has come to be seen as an entertainment. ITS REAL LIFE AND AFFECTS US. We should not be choosing politicians because they look good on TV but because they can do a good job. I agree that the current campaign is boring, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't exercise our vote after giving the matter serious thought even if that serious thought means that we decide to spoil the ballot paper. Okay, middle aged harpy rant over
Hi Toby,  I'm with you in that modern politics does seem to inspire hostility and apathy.  The way politicians conduct themselves within their marketing campaigns does seem to do a disservice to very important issues. However ... ! they are important issues and ones that, as adults with responsibilities to ourselves and our community I think we should react to and cast a considered vote.  Its a long way off I know but at one point people died for the principle of universal suffrage and there are many places where people don't have that voice.  Maybe, now that we are mostly fed, clothed and watered that we have moved aong the political spectrum to a point at which its all pretty much about administration rather than big big issues - hence a load of suits behaving like children instead of serious politicians with ideological battles to wage.
