Shaney I still write letters too, it is just another strand to a form of communication.
What newspaper is this in?
Question Author
it was Gromit who said it I was merely trying to see what the common view was. It's a sensible question.
No Geezer, you phrased that to be deliberately insulting!!
Is it?
No it's not.

It's a leading question presented with obviously biased views to start with.
Being disabled and mainly housebound I would be lost without it. I've met up with friends I haven't seen for years and keep in touch with family and friends on a daily basis. I only put information on there that I don't mind people seeing and you can send private messages if you want. The best thing is it's free whereas I would have to pay for phone calls and posting letters.

Does a topic have to be in a newspaper before it makes the News category on here? Didn't realise there was such a criteria!
If I went on TV and incited people to riot in Warrington, the broadcaster would be severley criticised for giving my extreme views an audience, and would probably be finec

Yet if two idiots do this on FaceBook, then this unregulated site, gets no criticism, even though they are the means by which the incitement was publicised.
Well said Gromit, it would never happen on a proper site like this one, we have Mods to look after us and the general public.
Sorry Philtaz I stupidly thought this topic was for news, not just personal opinions.
Some of the things I hear about Facebook really frighten me.
Two idiots tried to incite a riot via facebook, so it is newsworthy.

I am on facebook but it increasingly irritates me, and I have personally seen bullying and general beastliness generated on it. I have also witnessed more than one fight over something said on facebook. I have grown not to like it, and think people who use it should get out more.

Then again, I find Chatterbank is not for me.
Thought it was a sub-story to the Facebook riot plotting craft.
Did you really Philtaz :-)
I think some of the people knocking facebook are ignoring the fact that many have been caught because of facebook too. Just because some of us have it in our lives does not make us a certain type of person.
Well I certainly thought it was currently topical, given the sentencing of two men today who'd been convicted of plotting or inciting a riot via Facebook.
I have a facebook account and there are people I have added as friends that I have known in the past and some of them you see that every few mins they have put a new comment on the wall and if you scan through the days wall and there must be random comments from the same person every 5mins that you can soon see the sad ones that have nothing better to do. Who realy cares about 90% of the rubbish that is said on it! You would not go round to their house to tell someone this rubbish so why feel the need to spend your day commenting on you own sad day of sat in the house on your benefits with nothing actualy interesting worth saying but when you have been for the loo or to have a bath.
I personally do not use it, but both my teenage kids do. They also have an active social life with their friends,
