Is Christine-Blower (the union boss behind today’s teachers’ strike) a typical Left-Wing hypocrite?

/// Last week it emerged that Ms Blower, who once said “I think there is a lot to be said for socialism,” was awarded a 9.1 per cent rise last year, taking her annual pay and benefits package to £133,871.///

That's almost a staggering £2,575 per week, not bad for a capitalist hating socialist.

There is no shortage of hypocrisy on either the left, right or middle.
Errm, I think you should check the dictionary definition of hypocrite.

I'd also be fascinated to know how "I think there is a lot to be said for socialism" gets twisted by you into "I am a capitalist hating socialist".
Would like to know how much of her wage packet and pension fund she is going to redistribute to the needy.
Unfortunately AOG when certain sections the right & the left rise above their stations they tend to adopt a more selfish atitude & their morals are somewhat diluted.
Its only the people who hold those ideals so closely.
Your posting could certainly apply to a lot more than Ms Blower however nobody in their right, or left mind, is going to refuse a pay rise of that stature
John "Two Jags" Prescott springs to mind as well.
Yes they preach what they dont practice.
And I seem to remember Arthur Scargill wasn't short of a bob or two.
Don't you fondly remember his contribution to the country ?

Arthur Scargill came out of it with his wages, pension and subsidised flat intact. The strikers were used for his own agenda.
in 09/10 her gross salary was just over £100k.

i'm not particulalry sympathising or otherwise, but being head of an organisation that manages around £40m per annum and represents over 370,000 members, i think thats quite a measly wedge.
<<“I think there is a lot to be said for socialism,”>>

Hardly something a 'capitalist hating' activist would shout from the barricades is it? LOL

Old Git tells me he's translated some of the Hitler speeches at Nuremburg and, surprisingly, when he is screaming and thumping the lectern he's actually saying things like 'this National Socialism idea is actually quite interesting'.

She's Chief Exec of a large organisation, earns the going rate which is about the same as a Head at a large Comprehensive.

I expect her taxes and contributions to the government is doing her bit for wealth distribution.
.
Does that premise of tax and contributions to the government go for all tax payers Zeuhl.
Not bad indeed, and what does the PM get, say just his parliamentary salary, not quite sure how running the country, even if you don't care for him or his politics, equates with running a union. Council chiefs on salaries bigger than that, what was once considered a civic duty, now command large salaries, bonuses. I look at our borough and wonder quite what it is they do to warrant them.
So is she supposed to say, I will take a reduction?

<<Does that premise of tax and contributions to the government go for all tax payers Zeuhl.>>

Definitely. George Osbourne needs all the money he can get so he can redistribute it to the poor socialists in Greece
sorry to interrupt,AOG, but just want to ask Zheul how his Japanese friends are after the dreadful Tsunami?

Rojash, please pay attention.

/// Ms Blower stood unsuccessfully as a candidate for the Socialist Alliance, an umbrella organisation whose backers include the Communist Party of Great Britain.///

/// The Socialist Alliance manifesto promised “a massive redistribution of wealth and power from the rich to the poor”.///

Hypocrite : /// A person who pretends to be good, pious or sympathetic without really being so.///

/// A hypocrite is the kind of politician who would cut down a redwood tree, then mount the stump and make a speech for conservation. — Adlai Stevenson (1900-1965) ///

I think she fits the hypocrisy bill 100%.

/// I'd also be fascinated to know how "I think there is a lot to be said for socialism" gets twisted by you into "I am a capitalist hating socialist" ///

A supporter of socialism is by their very politics also a hater of capitalism.

It is easy for a person getting £2,575 per week, to urge her members to strike, when they lose their pay, yet she still retains hers, no matter how long they are out.
