At last Brucie has his knighthood, but why did these deserve an award?

Especially the other two 'Goodies' who have now received their OBEs 8 years after the 3rd Goodie Bill Oddie received his.

But former basketball star John Amaechi, takes the biscuit, he doesn't even live in the UK. could it be because he became the first openly gay NBA player after coming out in 2007.?

Democratically elected knights next????
Eric Sykes has a CBE. He hasn't done anything much for years (being blind and deaf), though he was in Son of Rambow; Sir Brucie has.
jno!

>>>>>John Amaechi - for being gay but at least having the decency to leave the country before admitting it?<<<<<<<<

So your mot a Homophobe then!! a particularly unpleasant remark!!
not*
my tongue might have been ever so slightly in my cheek there, Ratter! I was referring to the last sentence in the original question.
"other musicians who are more deserving than Ferry"

ferry is hardly a musician, hes a only a half decent singer at that, who like a lot of other singers did well because of the band behind him.

most of his career was made by his image rather than his "singing" ability, puts on a dinner jacket and gets called Mr Cool, laughable really, musician...comical
"So your mot a Homophobe"

just because a person doesnt like or approve of something doesnt mean they are phobic
"who like a lot of other singers did well because of the band behind him. "
Very interesting comment. Where would Cliff Richard have been without The Shadows?
Tbt & gg are brilliant on the radio
Bryan ferry was my teenage heart throb
Brooke kinsella was richly deserved and I would have liked to see the parents of jimmy mizzen get something for having a dignity and compassion we could all learn from and there work to try to stop this hideous knife crime craze
When I was about 14 my mates and I loved the Goodies. I remember one summer we went playing tennis every day on Ormskirk park tennis courts and afterwards we went to the locl sweet shop and bought sherbert dips. We must have been 14 or 15 actually and also Jimmy Connors fans.

i didnt say all

I dont rate CR as a "good" singer, he can sing pop songs and is a pretty boy which has served him well, but apart from that.. poor dynamic range, , a fairly light voice, recognisable, right place right time etc etc
this link would suggest Eric Sykes has done a lot in his career.

I find the awards system increasingly arbitrary, and probably devalued as a result.
Bill Oddie was made an OBE for services to wildlife conservation, so there was no need to honour the other 'Goodies' at the same time.

Jenni Murray campaigns for many good causes (including those working in the fields of Parkinson's Disease, family planning and cancer care). She's also one of the BBC's most respected journalists.
