Events like this are what it means to The Queen. This is what it's all about. Power. Having all those heads of state bowing down to you. She'll be absolutely loving it. And then there's a wedding of course. Just a side issue that for The Queen.

That sounds quite cynical - this is not the Queen's day, it's William and Kate's - in terms of bowing it's no different from any other for ER.

Kings and Queens simply acknowledge one another...........neither is superior to any other; the other heads of state will acknowledge the fact that she's the Sovereign of this country (and many others). I doubt if she takes much personal gratification from this.
She'll be like any other proud Granny on the day a much loved grandson gets married.
They bow to her every day though, she meets them all the time at different events. TBH she probably doesn't even think about it, it's happened all her life, people being deferential and the way being cleared for her.
how old is Queenie? I'm surprised she keeps going really.. she's older than my mum, and my mum moans if she has to stand for more than 10 minutes, never mind with proper shoes on ;o)
She was 85 last week Sara.
I think she's 85, sara. Trained for it though, I am always amazed at her at the Cenotaph, standing straight and alone.
jack-I doubt William is a 'much loved' grandson with who his mother was-and he and Harry have more blue blood than she does
thank you ladies.

my mum is 76 and wants to wear her slippers with cut out toes, all the time!

good old Queenie, she really is quite remarkable. and her old man, too.. much as I can't warm to him :o)
He and Harry have more blue blood than she does? How do you get to that? Charles' blood is the same as Queenie's.
bagpuss63 - I'm sure that you base your surmising on a great deal of insider knowledge....?
"Having all those heads of state bowing down to you. She'll be absolutely loving it."

Cor. What a bitch.
What I meant was is Diana#s family has more blue blood than the
ps-the QUeen does-pressed wrong button
spot on bagpuss
That's as may be...............she's still the Queen, though...and has been for so many years as to make any 'blood' issues thoroughly redundant.
redundant?....you mean just like Diana was after she had been used as a breeding machine?
What has that to do with the Queen ?
everything........she knew there was 3 in that sham marriage her mother was even worse......look forward to the divorce like all other recent royal weddings
yes another chance for anti royalist pr1cks to have a go at her Majesty, dig in, enjoy.
