The day after the select comittee report in bullying and racism in the army,the MOD annoounce the award of a VC to someone who earned it over a year ago,nice timing or am i being cynical?Certainly deflected all the possible flak regarding the report!!

Well, it would not surprise me, as I believe PR always time the release of news to suit them e.g. deflecting attention from other matters.

The cynic in me awakened also, I was thinking more of prisoner abuse. The cynic was silenced a little when I saw reports of what this chap actually did though.

No there were a whole load of other medals awarded as well.

Some people got medals for bayonet charging a line of armed Arabs who (in the classical phrase) were shooting at them. Fully deserved in my opinion.
