At the risk of sounding a meanie, my money is staying in my pocket.

I prefer the kind of charity where I can give to the person personally and see the benefits for myself.
I give my donations where and how I think most fitting.

I find most of the CIN antics cringeworthy and am not persuaded, in the least, to part with additional funds because of them !
If I do give then it will be a private affair and very likey in the version of sponsoring someone. I will not be staring at the telethon as I lose the will to live watching this sort of thing.
Glad I'm not the only one to feel like that. I give to the ones I can see are actually receiving it. There are plenty of children in need in the near vicinity without giving to the ones far away. And how much of the money is actually spent on them? How much is spent on administration? I remember when I was a lot younger there was a charity selling tickets for Spastics. I gave freely until I read in one of the newspapers that the "shareholders" had received 100% in profit that year. I didn't know there were any shareholders - they took care not to show that and the spastic sufferers themselves received only about 2p in every £1! Needless to say I stopped giving. Sorry about the rant - it's a sore point with me.
