why do local councils cut up roads and wast money to get more money the following year and up our coucil tax.
why is this allowed cant we have a governing body that controlls this and brings it down to a sensible level.i live in a one bedroom flat my partner works and im on incapacity benefit why do we pay over a thousand pounds a year when only one of us can work.

Council tax will be based on the banding of your home. It is particularly unfair, especially on the elderley that live in big houses, that your taxation locally is dertmined on the bricks and mortar you live in.

You can of course claim council tax benefit relating to your circumstances.

Clearly raising CT is not a popular move for any Council to make.

But increasingly Council's are getting short changed from the Government - who often oblige local authorities to act out Government policy whilst expecting them to pay for it at the same time.
