Thanks guys...I will add the BBC link to that post.
Oh I see, was this supposed to be a strictly left-wing thread?

Yes the UK should do even more...more to stop them coming here..and those that are here, even more to get them back...
I disagree Baz. Britain was one of the powers that created the middle east problem, and as a consequence we have a moral duty to help.
Of course we do, yeah right...on that basis theres millions on the planet that could use that as an excuse to flood in here...oh hold on ...
Well - actually - yes, there are. The British Empire didn't half trample on other folks destinies.
Indeed, Mosaic...one reason I'm here....x

its called life, survival of the fittest ....and youre going to tell me none of those countries didnt do any of their own trampling ?
Didn't trample on my destiny I've been here all the time, 14c. No foreign blood as far as I can tell up to now.

Opposed as I am to how the whole refugee situation has been played out I do agree that foreign aid should be used for humanitarian issues such as this, rather than dished out willy nilly to countries who can afford a space programme.
I am so glad of Answerbank.
I really thought Syria was a problem of their own making.I was led to believe that Syria wanted to jump on the bandwagon and copy their M.E. pals and have a change of regime. For once Bliar and Bush had no involvement in other countries regime change. They called it Arab Spring and it went seriously pear shaped when the rebels with tacit approval from Dave found they had bitten off more than they could chew and Assad proved he wasn't going quietly.
I thought our only involvement was to supply a billion quid to Syria and try to make something of the mess they created for themselves.
As a UK citizen I will not be wearing sack cloth and ashes for the rest of my life and I hope my Grand Children will not be apologising for this mess in the future. !!!
You turn your back for a days work, and the mastadons all wake up and start wailing across their primeval swamp.
Viz. colonialist empires are good, the survival of the fittest is good, and ...something ranty.....from Retrocop (no changes there then).
Bearing this gems in mind, look forward to Britain becoming a slave outpost of China in a generation (a dominant empire is good); do not nder any circs seek medical assistance (only the fittest should survive); and some stuff from Rantycop, that has its own inner circle of logic derived from a parallel universe.
In the 21st century. Who'd a thought it?
