what do they sing in the chorus on that song when he mentions "black eyed peas" and other random stuff???  i heard it on the radio and couldnt make out the lyrics!  it sounds like "calling chad baker" or something hee hee!

I think you are looking for the lyrics of The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite. These do mention "black eyed peas" but don't mention "calling chad baker" - I think you might have misheard that bit. it (famously) sounds like he sings "Call me Cheryl Baker" (ie the one from Bucks Fizz who does some telly now and then).

I am guessing, because I don't like REM, but seeing as they are American, it is possibly 'calling CHET Baker' ?they are saying.  Chet was a superb, laidback trumpet player. (West Coast Jazz).  You should check him out - especially when you want to chill out for a while.
