Well as it seems to be the 'in thing' at the mo I've just booked a session with the hypnotherapist to stop smoking.
It had better be good as it's costing me the price of 400 fags.

"In thing"? people have always started and given up drugs for as long as they have existed I would've thought! Anyway congratulations on the first step, I'm day 7 into me quitting having used the niquitin mini method, have you tried giving up already and have you exhausted all other routes ie.. medication (champix) and all the usual others including electrical cigarettes? Also don't let price be the motivating factor as money comes and goes, but you only have one health!
Good for you.
Just think how much you'll save in perfume now you won't have to try to mask the stink of smoke! It must be good to know that people won't have to keep at least 3 metres clear of you in order to avoid it.
I don't know if it's worth paying for hypnosis though, if you don't want to smoke you'll stop anyway and if you want to continue hypnosis won't stop you.
I wish you luck anyway.
Here's my log craft1948, I hope it helps.

lol madmaggot to my knowledge I've never had that problem. I last tried to stop about 30 years ago and lasted 3 weeks. I've decided on hypnotheray as after asking around this seems to have the highest success rate. I'm not going to keep posting about it, but if it works and I turn into a rabid anti-smoker my friends have permission to shoot me.
I had my last cigarette on 30th September.
I've now 'given up' although I'm not honestly in the mind-set to quit.
I just keep having to remind myself that I would be foolish to take it up again until I am in the right frame of mind to stop........

hypnotherapy (provided it's done right) will relax your conscious mind and reinforce the reasons you already have within yourself for being a non-smoker again.

as long as you have a desire to be smoke-free, save lots of money, have sweeter breath, smell better, have smoother clearer skin, be more active and live longer to see youngsters in your family grow up

then that's all you need.

remember, you are not giving up anything.
you are claiming back things you used to take for granted when you were young.
.
craft, good on you girlie!

lots of luck x

It's not impossible craft1948, it will be hard at especially times of stress, alcohol and boredom but none the less it can be done and we are rooting for you.
my OH has had acupuncture in his ears 3 weeks ago and it is working, he did this about 8 years ago and it worked then too lol apart from him starting smoking again last year through work stress
good luck craft !

my dad has quit recently after a years of smoking (over 50 years), good on you for taking this brave step x
Good luck crafty

So, if stopping improves your skin, does this mean you turn from looking like a walnut to having skin like a baby's bum?
Good on you craft. I just wish I could get oh to do the same.
BTW I wasn't saying that Crafty has a face like a walnut - it was just a general comment.

(Note to self - when in a hole, stop digging)
I have smoked for 50 - yes 50 years, and gave up in June. The reason was that I wanted to. If I can give up, anyone can. The remains of the last pack I never finished are on the kitchen windowsill. I really think that has helped me. Because I have these cigs, I feel as if I can smoke any time. But so far, so good. I have bought this laptop with the money I have saved, and nice boots, etc, etc. Some times I miss cigarettes, but try to bypass this
note to send to mrs overall - send over two spades and ask her to take her pick
I smoked for 40 yrs and actually felt sorry for anyone who didn't.I was the one outside in all weathers "enjoying" a fag. What rot! all I was doing was giving in to a craving.I stopped by willpower and it was the easiest thing I have ever done.If you are in the frame of mind that tells you what a stupid waste of money it is you CAN do it.I wish you well.Once you have cracked it you will wonder why you were ever hooked.I now feel sorry for people who DO smoke but would never deny them their right to do so.Anyone who comes to my house is welcome to smoke if they want to.I see it as their problem not mine.Well done for giving it a go.
Great success story bobbie22, this is my 7th day so any tips would be appreciated, when are the most dangerous times of relapsing in your opinion?
