This is a bit of longshot. Theres a song in my head that would be from the 80's ( i think ) and I cant identify it!

It's a slowie with a deep voiced singer over a slow bossanova-type beat. The only lyrics I can remember are the repeated lines at the end of the verse
" even if I could
even if i could
ev-en if i COULD! "
at which point the backing singers come literally singing "bah uh bah bah bah"

Apologies as its so vague - its a lovely romantic song and I would love to hear it properly again
