Did Labi Siffre ever sing It must be love ? or am i mistaken because I can't find it anywhere.

He didn't just sing it, he wrote it!  It was on his album "Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying". and was released as a single.  And it was indeed in 1971, it made #14 in the singles charts.

You might be searching for a while.  The original album hasn't been issues on CD, and the most recent compilation covers a period after this.  There was a compilation called "It Must Be Love", and it was on there, but the CD was deleted quite a while back.

I was able to download it with Soulseek.  It's really good.  Better than the Madness version.
