I like the look of the Laguna 1.9dt Mk2 (01-08ish) but have seen nothing but bad reports about reliability.
I need a car that will reliably do 15000 motorway miles pa. 6 gears and good mpg seem a good idea but I cant afford endless breakdowns.
Are the stories blown out of proportion or is the Laguna 2 really a dog? Ive run a scenic for 5 years and its been pretty good so please post HONEST experience (or links to good sites) not hearsay or broad statements ( for eg:I know I need to check history etc thanks!)

Hi Retread,

The earlier 1.9d is not that good, it is prone to the turbo oil seals going which means the turbo will start sucking the engine oil in the sump to run the engine, quite a few have ruined the engine doing this because they go up to maximum revs until all the engine oil has been used, the only way to stop it is to stall the engine.

I think they stopped fitting the 1.9d well before the 08 came out, a good car is the 2.2d.

the 6 speed gearbox is not as reliable as the 5 speed.

The best site you can look at to get advice is this one........

You can get a really good Audi A6 motorway cruiser that will do everything you could ask of it in style and comfort. Go on, you know you want to.

Come to that conclusion myself but probably looking at an A4 Avant . . . . the lack of +ve reponses from Laguna owners is a bit of a giveaway to me!!
