I seem to keep hearing this tune on oldies radio, but they never say what it is, and I do know it - I'm pretty sure it actually made the charts way back.

Tried songtapper, etc, with no luck so if you know ANY instrumental that probably came out late sixties/seventies, let me know.

One thing I do know, it isn't green onions. I am not going to bother trying to describe it, as obviously it's a bit hard, but it's quite a jaunty tune. I have a strong suspicion it was only from 65 to 75 but I can't swear.

Literally ANY suggestions welcome - if you know of one, just say so.

Ta muchly in advance.

No, not that one. Ta anyway.
Any idea of the main instrument used, like you say it isn't 'Green Onions' which was organ (or keyboard) driven. Another Booker T one (again organ) was 'Wade In The Water', that was quite 'jaunty'.
Or was it Ramsey Lewis ?, think it was actually.
What's the main instrumentation?

Is it guitar/piano/orchestral/brass/whistling/synths?

Latin/soul/rock feel to it?

Give us something more than 'Jaunty' !!

on the off-chance....'Mouldy old Dough' Lieutenant Pigeon? Eye Level (Van der Valk) Simon Park Orchestra?...can't be 'Albatross' 'cos it's not exactly 'jaunty' is it?... 'I was Kaiser Bill's Batman' Whistling Jack Smith...that's very jaunty! 'Hot Butter'...Popcorn?

Ta for the answers. Not so far, tho I have to check out that "wade in the water" (will do so after I posted this and come back)

I originally thought it was a booker T tune - I have a feeling it was about that time, and that is why I know it isn't green onions cos I have that.

As for instrumentation, I think it is organ based - certainly not guitar or drums. Could be brass as well (though I don't think any herb alpert stuff). I can hear the tune in my head, having heard it today, but I can't pin down what is actually being used to play it.
could be this Booker T tune...'Time is Tight' ?

...very familiar

Yeah, Time is tight is the one!! - by weird coincidence I was downloading a few tracks on Limewire to check, and that one seemed to stick out - the title fitted the tune if you get my drift.

Thanks dr wu, and thanks everybody else.
What about "Time is Tight" by Booker T or possibly a radio DJ's signature tune? Johnnie Walker uses "Because They're Young" by Duane Eddy and DLT used " A touch of Velvet-a Sting Of Brass" by Mood Mosaic on the pirates.
I know you have the answer, but here is another swinging instrumental.

Austin Powers - YEAH BABY.
