Why cant we get CMT on Sky now. It used to be on a numbere of years ago. Country music is bigger now in the Uk than ever before so the market is there.

April 1998: it was decided that the European music channel, CMT Europe, would be pulled of air due to consistently low viewer ratings. The decision was controversial, and a large support group for the coninuation of CMT Europe was created, but it would appear to no avail.

Apparently CMT in the US has moved its focus (in parallel with its cousin MTV) away from playing current (or older) Country music and now populates its output with Trick My Truck (Pimp My Ride for rednecks), Country Fried Home Videos (You've Been Framed for red... you get the idea) and reruns of Dukes of Hazard.

This is within the largest market for CM that exists, so I think that CMT in the format you remember will never return to Europe.

CMR is a major country music station based in Britain.
