Last night I heard a song, it sounded Libertines/Babyshambles-ish and it said something about Liverpool in it.

I know that's really vague ! It seemed popular because everybody in the pub was singing it.

I think it might be The Wombats actually.

Yes, it is probably The Wombats - Let's Dance to Joy Division. The opening line is "I'm back in Liverpool and everything seems the same" (or something similar).
