The list is long but hardly full of names that you remember. Steve Brookstein, G4, Chico, Andy Abraham, Journey South, Cassie Compton, these are all people who released singles or albums in the wake of reality tv success. The hype has perhaps never been higher for the latest X Factor product, Leona Lewis. But does she have what it takes to become a true pop star, or is she just going to be forgotten in a few months?

nope she'll be forgotten soon. That song is already grating on me
she'll be big. Not from me buying her records mind, but she'll make her mark.

I think both Rhydian and Hope will be big too.

Also, don't forget the biggest girl band these days - Girls Aloud - started on Popstars.
I think talent, combined with a degree of marketability, audience appeal, and a great deal of luck is, always has ben, and always will be, the route to success in popular music.

Leona Lewis certainly has talent and appeal over and above the usual run-of-the-mill winners. The major problem is, the people who watch X-Factor and similar shows, and send these artists' first releases to the top are not people who regularly buy music. Once the impact of weekly TV appearences vanishes, so does the interest and appeal for the mnajority of poeple who buy their singles and albums.

Some are the exception - Girls Aloud being an excellent example - but you need a string of killer singles to keep up the momentum.

Leona Lewis has the talent, she just needs to make sure her profile is directed towards people who will enjoy her material - and that thematerial appeals.
leona - great voice, ZERO charisma. Would you pay to see an hour and a half of that warbling?

Ridian, pop star? My ar5e, put him in cats

Rhydian is cr@p. infact they are all ***** this year, they might be able to sing but no x factor. non of them stand out. I prefer that thing on Channel 4 with proper bands being judged
erm, I LOVED Rhydian!!!
You're right about the setting though, wrong platform for someone like that to perform.
Do you remember when Leona Lewis used to come out to sing on the X factor? No stage presence, she used to wave like a 3 year old and then stand rooted to the spot.
Always used to make me laugh.
Billy Idol boy should be in panto.

Rear end of a horse would be good.

X factor is getting like the circus, send in the clowns.

Journey Who?

Cassie who?

Andy who?

Chico is at Pontins i think

Ben Mills was at my local chicagos 4 months ago as were Eton Road
eton road have split rev, the lead lady boy left
I think that leona lewis is going to be huge! yeh she has taken her time to come out to the public after the x-factor last year, but maybe thats a good thing..? as you said the previous conestants did rubbish because the public got sick of hearing there names after a while. But leona has taken her time out and is now making a huge comeback! i say go 4 it! i think she'll do great!
Omg...
