Does anyone know where I can get either (or both, preferably) the guitar tab and/or an mp3 of this fantastic classic guitar song by Paddy Schmidt? I've tried search engines, tab sites, music forums and Kazaa Lite and keep finding nothing other than the lyrics. Sometimes it just takes a fresh pair of eyes, though! Anyone got the song?

Fantastic stf42, that's a very kind offer and I've duely applied to the group! Any version of the song is better than none at the moment - just to check - does the chorus of The Dubliners' version go #And it's oh dear me/What am I gonna dee/Sally stole me heart completely/And I'll never get it back, for she gaans wi' Mr. Black/And they say he's going to marry Sally Wheatley"?
Chorus lyrics are exactly the same as your version......funny enough I am just looking through all my old session tunes and songs as I have been invited to start up a new session and this lovely old tune might be one I have a bash at....the version you are looking for is it a fingerstyle version or do you just want the basic chord pattern? I am sure I can work out the chord progression in a few minutes for you if that is the case.
Question Author
Again, very kind of you! I think I'd be OK working out the chords once I had a copy of the song (although I might confer with you afterwards to compare notes!) (haha notes...). I like the Dubliners, I bet they do a good version of it.
There's another really nice version of this song available by Stu Luckley & Bob Fox, on the album, "Box of gold". Bob's from County Durham and the lyrics fit better when sung in a Geordie accent. I've just discovered it myself and I can commend it highly. If you've managed to put together a tab., I wouldn't mind a copy.
If anyone does have the guitar tab for sally wheatley done by bob fox I would be eternally grateful for it [Email address removed as per site policy. - AB Editor]
