In the 1980's, Kathleen Hale (the author of the children's series about Orlando the Marmalade Cat) appeared on Desert Island Discs. One of the records she requested was by a Lebanese singer. It sounded like "Shiraz by Quittez". (She had been to the Lebanon in the forties or fifties). This is what it sounded like to me phonetically, not being able to speak the language.
Does anyone know about the song? I cannot get any info from the BBC, no playlist or even confirmation of the proper name of the song and singer.
I've been trying for 20 idd years on and off to track this information down.
