Trapped finger in car door!! OUCH

A couple of weeks ago i managed to shut our car door on my little finger. Yes it hurt BIG time :( It instantly started to blacken up and i was expecting the the nail rot and for it to fall off because of the blood trapped underneth it. 3 weeks later the nail is still in tact with no signs rotting. It looks like i'm wearing black nail varnish on my pinky that hasn't been put on properly and is flaking :) Any ideas what i can do to get my nail back to normal, without using nail polish? HEHE

I did something similar, and as the nail didn't come off, I just left it, and eventually a new nail grew underneath the old one, and I just picked off the old one.
