Is this an original? If not who else has sung it and who was the original. My girlfriend seems to think it was a woman! I think she's wrong! Thanks

It's a combination of two songs, the main verse is "Stop Me" by the Smiths and the "You Keep me hanging on" by Diana Ross for the later chorus.
