how to use auto accompaniment on a keyboard

I got a lovely digital piano for christmas but i can't seem to get the auto accompaniment working so it plays along with my tune, it always just seems to have it's own rhythm.

you probably have to set the tempo, and you need to be using the right type of accompaniment. Look at whether its written in a 4/4 then an 8 or 16 beat would suit it etc etc
