The company I work for is going down the pan so we are having a party. I am trying to think of appropriate songs for the occasion, eg we're on the road to nowhere. Any ideas?

Anything by Men at Work would surely get an ironic smile
"It's The End Of The World (As We Know It)" by REM. "So long, farewell, auf weiderseehen, goodbye" (don't know the real name) from the Sound Of Music."Down The Dip" by Aztec Camera. "Part Of The Union" by The Strawbs (to scare the bosses).
Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to work I go from Snow White.....Shipbuilding - Elvis Costello......Money - Pink Floyd.......Road to Hell - Chris Rea......That's Lvin' alright...Joe Fagan......Working Man - Rita MacNeil......Ordinary Man - Christy Moore......that should keep you going.....and Down the dip mike? I'm impressed, good choice!!!
Here's a few oldie suggestions; Work all Day (Barry Briggs); Work Rest & Play (Madness); Work That Sucker to Death (Xavier); Working for the Yankee Dollar (Skids); Working in the Coalmine (Lee Dorsey); Working on a Building of Love (Chairmen of the Board); Winkers Song [misprint] (Ivor Biggun); Lonely This Christmas (Mud); Love Don't Live Here Any More (Rose Royce); Another One Bites The Dust (Queen).
"Shove this J-O-B" by Canibus from the film "office space" which is an updated version of "Take this job and shove it" by Johnny Paycheck and Willie Nelson. I promise both will go down a treat.
Help!, I'm Down, The End, and maybe Getting Better (in case you wanted to be a bit optimistic) - all by The Beatles of course. :)
Some guys I know were in the same predicament and actually broadcast over the tannoy system things like "Always look on the bright side of life" from Monty Python and they even managed to get hold of "I'm H... A... P... P... Y..." From that program "Only when I laugh" with David Jason from the 1970's. Apparently raised moral a little not to mention a wry smile here and there Best of Luck Keldar
'Should I stay or should I go' by The Clash (I know you're all going but what the heck it's a great party track) and 'Ain't nothing going on but the rent' by Gwen Guthrie, which contains that immortal line 'you got to have a J-O-B if you want to be with me...'. Good to see you're all taking it in good humour and just remember as one door closes another one opens. Good luck!
