I'm sure I heard the words 'curly wurly' in then lyrics to this song.
Surely Brucie never meant the Cadbury's chocolate and toffee delight when he wrote it?

"Some silicone sister with a manager mister told me I go what it takes
She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong,
play the song with the funky break"
And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart to see if it was safe outside
And little Early-Pearly came by in his curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride
Asked me if I needed a ride
But she was...
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light"

So, not the confectionary item, but I'm not entirely sure what it *does* mean either. Some sort of car, I'm guessing?
Ah, God bless Brucie - he certainly wrote some weird lyrics back in his pre-Born In The USA days. :-)

Long live The Boss!
Did bruce springsteen write this song? i thought it was a bit before his time.
It is indeed a Springsteen composition. Originally recorded as the first track on his debut album Greetings From Asbury Park NJ back in 1973 - we Brits took a while to catch on to him and he didn't really break through here until the Born In The USA album in 1984 (though he'd had a couple of minor hits before that).

MMEB's cover version was released in 1976.
One of the best cover versions ever.

I'd avoid trying to find any meaningin the lyric - I'm sure it's all just made to fit.
