I have just heard that Star Trek - The Original Series has had a revamp . Some effects have been replaced with CGI effects ie exterior shots of the Enterprise.

Is this vandalism or just a way of getting the punter to pay once again for the same material?

I didn't realise they'd replaced any FX.
I thought it was just the usual digital remastering.

Are you sure?

No one is forcing you to buy the new versions.

DVD sales alone would not pay for this kind of thing, it is most likely being done to ensure their continued showing on cable and sattelite TV.
If they do it like Star Wars you'll probably be expected to buy 'Special Edition' discs with both versions on. As long as they don't digitally airbrush Kirk's paunch out I don't mind.

LOL! Maybe a CGI Greasy Wig as well!
