Flickering Backlight

Hi,
i have a Hewlett Packard Pavilion ZT1131S and i am experiencing trouble with the backlight, it is flickering and sometimes completely cuts off leaving the screen in darkness, it gets to the extent that i cannot see anything on the screen. Please help me, as this has been going for months and i have been unsuccessful upto now..

Do you mean the backlight or the whole display. If the latter, then this is a common problem on all laptops and is caused when the ribbon connector cable, which is routed through the hinge, catches and starts to come unstuck at the screen termination. If you catch the problem early enough it is possible to ease the ribbon's passage through the hinge with some WD40 and easing the screen backwards and forwards to loosen it up.


If you have left it too long, it will necessitate a professional (and costly) repair.
