I only miss restaurants on special family occasions. I haven't seen our granddaughters for about 4 months and I know my son is bringing them up this weekend to celebrate father's day. It would of been pleasant to have a restaurant meal on Sunday but I know how to cook so we will just have to pretend and hopefully have our Sunday celebration roast in the garden. I think we will survive without pubs or restaurants but they make a change to household routine.

I've mentioned this on another thread, but in Ontario, the beer and liquor stores have remained open throughout this covid situation and the prices are a lot cheaper than what you pay in the bars. When you get deliveries from the bars or buy from the off-license, do you pay the same price as what you'd pay sitting in the bar?

We have virtually no Off licences left. Off sales are now purchased in convenience stores which are marginally cheaper than most pubs although not as cheap as the Wetherspoon pub chain. The cheapest booze outlets have to be the competing supermarkets. The trouble is most discerning British Gentleman enjoy draught ales from the tap and have their foaming nut brown meths in a handled jar. The yoof are happy to emulate Tom Cruise and swig back their bee pee Buds in bottles anywhere.

^^^ The price difference in the UK can be far greater. For example, I can buy 8 x 330ml cans of Camden Pale Ale in a supermarket for £9. A SINGLE can in a pub costs £4.50, so that makes the pub price exactly FOUR TIMES the supermarket price.
Those pubs that are providing takeaway and/or delivery services seem to be selling mainly draught beers, which never taste quite the same from bottles or cans. To the best of my knowledge, they're charging their normal bar prices.

i miss going to the pub, which during the warmer weather i go with a friend on a friday afternoon/evening, they have a area where you can sit outside which is a suntrap. many an afternoon we have sat there baking in the sun, so yes i do miss it. Not so much for the drinking as a pleasant way to pass the time having a natter with mates.
I don't really miss them especially right now when I can't really go anywhere but beer gardens in the summer are part of our British culture and I've always enjoyed eating out.
I hope our hospitality industry can one day be restored to the pre-Covid norm.
Thank goodness we can still get takeaways. Life would be unthinkable if I couldn't get my curry fix...
