Do you think they'll survive if the social distance rules are put in place?

Restaurants maybe, just bump up the cover charge but pubs, six feet apart, never happen.
I`m not missing either. I think some people will miss pubs (pubs around here are serving pints to take away) but I think don't think the restaurant sector will recover for a long time.

I've heard about pubs doing diliverys, they can't keep that up.
If they don't open again (as normal) that would be a huge loss to the economy.
As I I have been on the wagon since before lockdown I have not missed my daily visit to the local. When my local opens I will break my own discipline code and get a little tipsy all day.
I only miss restaurants on special family occasions. I haven't seen our granddaughters for about 4 months and I know my son is bringing them up this weekend to celebrate father's day. It would of been pleasant to have a restaurant meal on Sunday but I know how to cook so we will just have to pretend and hopefully have our Sunday celebration roast in the garden. I think we will survive without pubs or restaurants but they make a change to household routine.
I've mentioned this on another thread, but in Ontario, the beer and liquor stores have remained open throughout this covid situation and the prices are a lot cheaper than what you pay in the bars. When you get deliveries from the bars or buy from the off-license, do you pay the same price as what you'd pay sitting in the bar?
"If they don't open up again that will be a huge loss to the economy" Exactly. The whole way that Covid has been managed in this country is going to result in a huge loss to the economy.
I miss having lunch outside at cafes and garden centres.

We have virtually no Off licences left. Off sales are now purchased in convenience stores which are marginally cheaper than most pubs although not as cheap as the Wetherspoon pub chain. The cheapest booze outlets have to be the competing supermarkets. The trouble is most discerning British Gentleman enjoy draught ales from the tap and have their foaming nut brown meths in a handled jar. The yoof are happy to emulate Tom Cruise and swig back their bee pee Buds in bottles anywhere.
Interesting, Retro. The beer at the beer store here is at least 50% less that what you would pay in a bar. Now, I shall open a can of Faxe beer which cost me $3.49, but in my local pub would cost $7.65...Cheers.
^^^ The price difference in the UK can be far greater. For example, I can buy 8 x 330ml cans of Camden Pale Ale in a supermarket for £9. A SINGLE can in a pub costs £4.50, so that makes the pub price exactly FOUR TIMES the supermarket price.

Those pubs that are providing takeaway and/or delivery services seem to be selling mainly draught beers, which never taste quite the same from bottles or cans. To the best of my knowledge, they're charging their normal bar prices.
I miss going to the theatre and having a drink and meal. I hope theatres survive this.
I hope pubs open soon. My sister runs one. She’s being paid partly by the gov furlough scheme and topped up by her employer but that’s not going to last forever.
i miss going to the pub, which during the warmer weather i go with a friend on a friday afternoon/evening, they have a area where you can sit outside which is a suntrap. many an afternoon we have sat there baking in the sun, so yes i do miss it. Not so much for the drinking as a pleasant way to pass the time having a natter with mates.
Pubs in the UK are closing up at a ridiculous rate anyway. 2 in my small village, the workman’s club gone. This is the death knell for them. A crying shame.
Clubs were struggling long before this. i'm afraid they will soon be a mere footnote in history. I remember the days when they were thriving; at weekends you had to queue to get in.
Loads of pubs near me. They seem to be doing OK.

I'm not missing them. Too many people in and out my house to miss socialising.
I don't really miss them especially right now when I can't really go anywhere but beer gardens in the summer are part of our British culture and I've always enjoyed eating out.

I hope our hospitality industry can one day be restored to the pre-Covid norm.

Thank goodness we can still get takeaways. Life would be unthinkable if I couldn't get my curry fix...
Me too LCG.
I miss both, but mainly restaurants. Eating out is/was was on my favourite things to do.
We have lots off off license in NI and their business is booming, very rarely go into pubs but do miss restaurants, our local one reopens 3 July already booked in.
