We have done it today. We are going back to a hotel in Taunton where we went two years ago. this includes two nights board, dinner on 30th, festive dinner dance on NYE. Two breakfasts and afternoon tea on arrival on 30th. Also bubbly NYE. All for £249 for two in a luxury ensuite bedroom.
We intend to do a trip on the steam train again. There are six of us going again, we had a super time last time so am sure we will again.

Good for you Caran. all being well, we'll be indoors watching a film, with a cup of tea and a box of chocs!

Are you sure that the managment haven't got long memories then ;-)
We never went away at New Year and now I'm alone my plans are simple - I set the TV to record the fireworks and wrap up with a nice glass of red and go to my balcony and watch the sky erupt around me.

Each bang and crash and sparkle seems to bring a memory back.

However you spend it be happy. ♥

That sounds wonderful Mamya.
After Christmas, being away for a few days and catching up with family etc... joining in the reindeer games. I'm usually pretty much spent (Monetary and physically) by New years to bother the past few years.

So probably be at home ... crack open a gift that was given to me... leave the curtains open and watch it all kick-off... akin to what Mamya said.
It'll be just me and the cats watching Jools Holland's Hootenanny again here; to go out anywhere decent would involve spending mega-bucks on a taxi :(

I'll probably be on steam train on New Year's Day as well though because it's the last day of validity for my annual pass to the Mid Suffolk Light Railway. However, unlike the 70 minute ride you get each way on the West Somerset Railway, it only takes about 3 minutes to go from one end of the line to the other on the 'Middy', as it's known. It's somewhere to go though!
I've played on a pool-table like the one in your link Chris. :-)

I hope that's not one of Ozzy's.
I did see a very tempting gala dinner at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool. We've booked a weekend there next Summer so maybe I'll consider NYE 2020 there if I can convince my husband. I'd love to dig out my navy ballgown that's never been worn.

As our house is likely to still be a building site, we'll probably go to my parents.
can't say i like New Years other than i get a year older. No plans other than stay indoors and chill out.
It's great you've got someone with whom to enjoy the festivities. Judging by earlier replies (and from experience) many of us don't, and most holidays/short breaks are specifically marketed to couples.
We always stay in and have a similar night as Christmas Eve with nibbles and a take away ,either TV or a film, I’m by nature a party animal but strangely enough, not NYE or Christmas, I enjoy curling up with the door locked and the fire glowing, we always went out years ago but the millennium saw your local pubs ‘charging’ you to get in when the once a year drinkers would come out to play lol, No, Not for us I’m afraid
I used to love spending NYE with my friends when I was young. Now I’d much rather stay home and watch Jools Holland. We might open one of our wedding present bottles of champagne.
It’s a locked door and fire and TV evening here too.
I may go mad and celebrate with a cup of tea... it will be exactly a year since I stopped drinking.
Your break does sound great though, enjoy!
Is it new years eve if you've not got Jools Holland on?
I have found new year overrated for years now. As I am not a drinker anyway, I don't see any point in paying to get into your usual pub. Bah humbug etc :-)
I will probably be working, but treat it like any other day.
