CCTV cameras in cells and everywhere else?
No, It's just a table with the prisoner one side and the visitor/visitors the other side. Up to two visitors per prisoner at one time.
Visitors who are found to have smuggled stuff into prisons are banned from further visits as well as a fine.
There are several tables in the one room with warders watching.
No CCTV inside most cells, some 'vulnerable' prisoners have CCTV to prevent suicide attempts.
CCTV in 'general' areas like corridors and yards.
They do need to get to the bottom of this ...
A kiss between the inmate and visitor is the usual way to transfer drugs.Mouth to mouth!
I think lankeela knows the 'hows and whys'. she's asking why we don't implement the visiting behind a screen method used in USA...
ff. Reply is pertinent .
Are us prisons contraband free then?
Our prisons are not a rigid in rules as the USA.USA prisons are all privately run businesses run for a profit. Here the Government run them via the Prison service, this leads to a more 'human' approach.
"USA prisons are all privately run businesses run for a profit."

Less than 10% of the total US federal and state prisoner population is in a privately run prison. Pre Trump's election, the Dept. of Justice announced it would end all federal contracted privatisation. If this was to occur the total US prisoner population in a privately run prison would drop below 6%.

16 of 150 prisons in the UK are run privately, housing 15% of our national prison population.

Not on the prison visit I went to.
^ That is how visiting was in the prison I worked in.
Quite civilized, the warders even made tea for the visitors .
