Another insignificant minority group who want to change the norm.
I believe the set up for traffic signs, signals, directions were well established In the Road Traffic Regulation Act or something similar so why do these people wish to promote their hideous ideas because "it hasn't killed anyone".These people are sad, pathetic and a waste of space.
Why does anyone need a Gay crossing? Honestly.....Gay Pride is becoming outdated as the stigma about being Gay has surely nigh on disappeared. I'm 'Glad to be Straight ' but don't need a blinking crossing to prove my point!
Retrochic
A Belisha beacon must blink or the crossing loses it's legitamacy. :-)
Photo in today's mail, the crossing is painted in rainbow colours.
If this is found to be true then those responsible should be forced by law to rebuild the historic pub & it should be called The Phoenix. They should be forced to do this in order to stop anyone else getting around the law in this fashion.
It's hideous and looks like it was done by dodgy gypsies who had no tarmac-ing to do that day.
Why should I stop my car at this crossing when it doesn't have the standard identifying features?
Sorry, my reply at 10.33 refers to news item '' Bulldozers level historic pub after being denied planning permission'' ( same publication, different page of AOGs news link)
Lol I bet you'd stop and tie your shoe laces just before you crossed there AOG
Stupid idea by stupid people and a complete waste of money. If they have £15,000 burning a hole in their pocket, better give it to an Aids charity.

So stupid that they do not know a rainbow has 7 colours not 6.
The mystery of the lost colour is solved...

// In 1979 the flag was modified again. When hung vertically from the lamp posts of San Francisco's Market Street, the center stripe was obscured by the post itself. Changing the flag design to one with an even number of stripes was the easiest way to rectify this, so the turquoise stripe was dropped, which resulted in a six stripe version of the flag — red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. //
I am happy to be 'straight' please can I have a pedestrian crossing dedicated to me with black & white perpendicular stripes rather than horizontal ?

Oh I don't know about that Ron, but you should still be allowed 'straight' across.
There was a follow up story that the road crossing in the town had their beeping noise replaced with a Donna Summer tune.
Will motor vehicles actually stop. Where are the orange and black lollipops at each end.

I love bright colours and would have no objections to this, in fact it would be more prominent than the standard black/white, so perhaps better seen.
It's a pity they didn't let the paint dry before letting cars go over it.
//"I am concerned that if this keeps going backwards and forwards we will not be the first place in Europe to do this, we will be the 40th.//

This exhibitionist ought to get out more or read a paper. I think there are more matters of concern in Europe at the moment than pandering to his perverse ideas and pride.

It's garish, Fusion.

Maybe a bold rainbow coloured stripe at the end of each block of white would have looked better?
